Dr. Stephen Franson

Dr. Stephen Franson, named All-State and All-American Chiropractor by his peers, is a sought-after international Wellness speaker, author and teacher of chiropractic care and the Wellness Lifestyle.  A graduate of the University of Vermont (B.S.), Life Chiropractic College (D.C.) and a certified Gonstead instructor, Dr. Franson has served as an extended faculty member at Life University, Palmer College and Northwestern College of Life Sciences.  He also serves as Director of the North Shore Corrective Chiropractic Cooperative.   Franson Family Chiropractic, which Dr. Franson opened in 1997 with his wife, Dr. Camilla Franson, is one of the largest wellness clinics in the world.

Dr. Franson’s vision for chiropractic and wellness extends well beyond the confines of his Beverly, Massachusetts practice.  His Bonfire Health Program (coming this Fall: www.bonfirehealth.com), his Strategic Living Series Power Workshops and his wellness blog all serve to educate families in genetically congruent living.  Franson professes strategies for better health through better living by working with nature, rather than against it.

Dr. Franson, his wife Camilla, and their two children, Sam and Emma Grace, live on the seacoast of New Hampshire, where he can pursue his passion of winter surfing and practice with his own family what he lovingly teaches his patients to do:  Eat by Design, Move by Design and Think by Design.

One of my favorite aspects of my work is that I get to work with a phenomenal group of people.  There is something special that happens when a group of people commits to work together towards a common goal.  I hear this from newcomers to the office daily.  I hear “there is a great energy here,” and “I feel better just walking in the door.”  I love to hear that, because I know that it comes from our team’s commitment to making a difference in our community.

I found chiropractic in the midst of a successful Molecular Biology research career.  I always felt that there was a true order in life and nature in general, and in how our bodies function in particular.  In chiropractic, I found the vehicle that I was looking for to help people experience better health in their own lives, rather than my experience of it in a laboratory with a microscope.

One of my passions is in teaching as an instructor and board member of a post-graduate teaching organization called the Gonstead Methodology Institute.  I am always energized and enlightened by teaching, and sharing time with those in the pursuit of the most sophisticated chiropractic work ever developed.  My patients, however, sometimes wonder if their doctor might be a bit crazy, to spend his vacation in Wisconsin in January.

My interest in health was first instilled by virtue of being raised in a Southern California beach town where people were health and 'body-conscious' and, due to the weather, wore bathing suits nine months out of the year.  Secondly, and significant for my health journey was, at age 18, when I was introduced to America's health pioneer Adelle Davis, who was one of the earliest advocates of whole unprocessed foods, dietary supplements, and the avoidance of food additives; her landmark book on health and nutrition, "Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit" was "the health food bible" for many of his generation.

While in college pursuing a degree in marine biology, I sought out the care of a chiropractor.  This doctor, upon learning that I was taking a heavy science load, and that I also had an interest in health and preventive health in particular, suggested that I change my academic path to one of pursuing a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree.  The seed was planted, and after two more years of undergraduate work and four years of chiropractic school, I graduated third highest in his class with Magna cum Laude honors from Life Chiropractic College West in 1988.

On a personal level, I pursue a level of fitness that would be more fitting a man half my age! I swim, practice yoga, ride a mountain bike, and train intensively for core strength and conditioning - all in the same week, every week.  I strive to eat an innately congruent diet of high consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, organic pasture-fed lean meats and cold-water fish, with a zero grain and dairy intake, and water as my predominant beverage.  I am careful to never consume artificial sweeteners, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, and deep fried foods.  My mission is to teach the world about health and the connection between diet, lifestyle behaviors, disease and longevity.  I teach and coach my patients on how to get well and stay well. I look forward to meeting you.

While I am the office manager, I am first and foremost, a mom.  Even though my daughter (gorgeous and brilliant) and son (handsome and intelligent) are in college and high school, they are still my primary focus.  Of course, my husband of over 20 years remains my partner and best friend.   Together, we have journeyed through family and career milestones.

With a background in human resources management and recruitment, I ultimately started my own business.  I first met Dr. Franson when my business partner organized the first annual Cummings Center Health Fair.  We quickly became dedicated patients.  As fate would have it, we closed our business after September 11th with a goal of a more meaningful career.  We started working at Franson Family Chiropractic.

Many years later, I am honored to be the office manager of such an incredible office and staff.  After years in the business arena, I know there is not a better group of dedicated individuals anywhere.  My family has been under care for years and I know it has changed my children’s lives forever.  They are better adjusted people who have learned how to eat, move and think for healthier lives.  Personally, I hope to share the message of chiropractic with mothers and families everywhere.

Hi, I’m Chaney Davis.   I LOVE living here in New England…well…I love everything except driving in the winter.  Dover, New Hampshire is the place that I will always call home and I lived there until I moved to Massachusetts in 2008 to work for Franson Family Chiropractic.

I actually first started at Franson Family Chiropractic as a patient in 2006.   At the time I was a full time student at the University of New Hampshire, where I double-majored in Sociology and Spanish.  I was also working part-time as a drug prevention specialist for a nationally recognized youth drug prevention program.  So, needless to say, I was feeling like a pretty busy person…and the idea of commuting 2 hours round trip to go to the chiropractor in Beverly, MA was a bit daunting.   But I had some concerns and I wanted to get an opinion about the symptoms I was experiencing, including numbness in my toes, low back pain, and occasional migraine headaches.  So I made the first drive down to the office.  And that first time I met the staff and doctors at Franson Family Chiropractic I knew that it was going to be worth the drive.  One of my first appointments I met with Dr. Stephen Franson and he looked at my x-rays and postural exam and said that, not only could he and the other doctors here at Franson Family Chiropractic help me, but they knew why I was experiencing these symptoms.  So needless to say, I not only fully committed my time to being a patient of Franson Family Chiropractic but I have also made a further commitment to the healing that the doctors here can facilitate by becoming member of the Franson Family Chiropractic team.

The first thing you should know about me is that I love my job.  In fact, I am completely spoiled to be doing what I am doing!  As an extreme extrovert, I jump out of my skin to think that all day I get to chat with, get to know, and be with so many people!  One of my favorite things to do is to be dropped into a room of strangers.  Crazy, huh?  But I love it.  I am passionate about finding out who people are and what they are about.  I try to make every interaction with someone a learning opportunity.  Each person has so much to offer, so I want to make sure I don’t miss anything!

When I’m not in the office, you will probably find me building cardboard castles, playing capture the flag and throwing pumpkins out of second story windows to watch them smash on the ground!  You are probably thinking these are strange activities to do by yourself, but fear not!  These are all things I do with the high school students from the youth group I work with from my church!  I am so blessed by the mutual learning relationship I share with them as we can enjoy a part of each week together!

I first came to Franson Family Chiropractic as a patient experiencing some pretty heavy neck pain.  From the moment I entered the door I was deeply impressed by the office’s energy, enthusiasm and desire to help each person at the source of their pain.  Not only were the Doctors and Chiropractic Assistants concerned about my spine, but they were also deeply committed to making sure that the life I lead is one that thrives. I look forward to seeing you in the office.  Please let me know how I can best support you as you become an addition to our extended Franson Family.

Originally from Albany New York, I came to the North Shore of Massachusetts to study one of my first loves, writing, at a Gordon College, a Christian Liberal Arts college in Wenham. As a kid, ever since I knew my alphabet on paper, I have been writing: short stories, notes of encouragement, filling journals upon journals with life and prayers.  During college, I fell even more in love with the sport – writing my senior thesis on the power of the written word. It continues to be something I cherish.

My first introduction to Franson Family Chiropractic was through a workshop Dr. Stephen did at Gordon College. He started the workshop by asking: “Does anyone have a life purpose statement?” - I was immediately intrigued. The workshop centered on prioritization of our time energy and focus, the importance of vision, and how to develop vital behaviors in order to lead a truly healthy and vibrant life. I was totally hooked. I believe every one has a purpose and great responsibility to be intentional with using the life they've been given to its absolute fullest.  I am daily inspired by those I work with and am honored to stand along side so many phenomenal people committed to helping the North shore community.

I see this office as a place where people receive a dynamic education in living well. In addition to top quality chiropractic care, patients are given the opportunity to learn what optimal health is and how to bring it about. It is an office where life-giving principles are shared daily, the chance to live well is offered to every age, and optimal functioning, rather than the quickest fix, is taught and practiced.
